Split Double

The audio installations Anthem and Split Double were part of Robert Hall’s exhibition Anthem and Decorum at Galerie Dominique Lang, Dudelange (L).

Anthem fractionises national anthems from the time of World War I and reassembles them in a new way, giving them a new symbolic form according to their charater and to the historic circumstances.
Split Double creates an illusory symmetry with drum sounds/explosions, in accordance with the images from the 1st World War time who emphasize symmetry and regularity in a horrendous scenery.

The marble runs are a game with random, repetition and variation and sound as complex and unpredictable as contemporary music.
In ferragosto I, la route flonflon and Métal-Musique the balls roll on an inclined ramp and hit lying and hanging objects, producing different sounds according to their size, material and quantity. Melodies, sound clusters and accents create an indeterminate yet well-organised piece of music.
ingraisch is made with trash objects found at Hotel Pupik - parts of works of art and from agricultural equipment - and build into the hay stack of the barn; it consists of tracks and tubes for the running balls, and hanging objects as sounding obstacles.

Environment

Ambient noises from streets and construction areas are the basic material for the soundtrack to the performance/installation ferragosto II (2007).

For große kreise 08 (2008), street noises are transferred directly to the concert hall. The public is twice involved in the performance: inside as audience, outside as actors.
